Welcome to Gates Motel

Gates Motel, located at 995 Buffalo Rd in Rochester, NY, stands as a modest yet welcoming option for travelers seeking affordability combined with essential comforts. With a rating of 3.1, the motel offers a straightforward experience highlighted by clean, well-lit rooms equipped with kitchens and air conditioning. Guests frequently praise the friendly and attentive staff, who bring a personal touch that helps the place feel more like a home than a typical budget stay.

The motel’s strategic location is a significant advantage. Positioned conveniently near public transportation, with a bus stop just outside, it serves as a practical base for visitors looking to explore Rochester’s attractions without hassle. This accessibility caters well to those on a sightseeing itinerary or travelers relying on local transit routes.

While the amenities are basic—free Wi-Fi and parking stand out—the absence of a pool or fitness center points to the motel’s focus on functionality rather than luxury. Room comfort is generally solid, with consistent notes about cleanliness and quietness, though some guests mention the heating system can be intense, and the small TV size may limit entertainment options.

What resonates most about Gates Motel is the sense of community embedded in its fabric. Long-time employees and a loyal clientele create a familial atmosphere that sets it apart. Reviews reflect heartfelt appreciation for this environment, especially in the jacuzzi room offerings and personalized gestures such as morning chocolates. These details show a commitment to customer care that transcends the standard budget stay.

However, prospective guests should be aware of occasional law enforcement presence around the property, which some find intrusive while others see as a reassurance of safety. Overall, Gates Motel offers an authentic, no-frills stay marked by genuine hospitality and a grounding local vibe.

For visitors valuing practicality, affordability, and a touch of warmth in Rochester, Gates Motel remains a solid choice. It delivers the essentials with grace and a welcoming spirit, making it more than just another stop on the road.

Second time here. Room was decent. The only complaints I have are the size of the TV, they all must be 15-17 inches. Way too small, & I only saw two outlets in the room. One for the heater/AC unit and one for the TV. Might be a little better with a power strip, or a multi outlet plug.

Great location. Bus stop right in front of motel. Hourly prices and nightly prices are a great price. Housekeeping and desk personnel are always nice and as accomadating as they can be. The only bad thing is the cops are there 400x a day. Checking ppls cars and rolling through being nosey. There nice as long as you cars legal and you don't look sketchy.

Okay, so not a lot of people would agree with me on this. I'm going to be honest. However, i'm not grading stars on all the rooms.I'm grading the jacuzzi rooms. And the surface to me is spectacular, because I grew up here. All the people are kinda like family to me they've all worked here for years. Well, 80% of them anyways, but I love this place. I always have I feel like I'm at home here. Not a lot of people would understand that, but it is what it is. I'm actually here now. I just got out of the hot tub and man. Oh man, I feel like home. Not to mention, I feel like a whole new woman getting out of that hot tub.

Spent 3 nights for honeymoon vacation. Loved it. I can't believe this is a budget hotel. Clean bright room, spotless bathroom, everything smelled fresh. Highly recommended! Staff was amazing and I appreciated the chocolates they brought every morning. Simply the best.
